“A New Dawn of the Mantle”

15 Feb 2013 / 0 Comments / in Drake Notes/by Matthew Drake

An Article I wrote for an Apostolic Periodical….. (Sorry for the length – a good read!)

On day three or four of an extended family fast, my wife came rushing in to the room early one morning to share a Scripture she read and was excited about.

Zechariah 11:17 reads, ‘Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! The sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arms shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall utterly be darkened.”

I‘ve likely read this Scripture easily 50+ times, but it never stood out to me as it has this year. Read more →

Get Ready, Get Set – GROW!!!

13 Dec 2012 / 0 Comments / in Drake Notes/by Matthew Drake

My Pastor, Kenny Marshburn once preached a Message many years ago, “What in Hell Do You Want?!?” In other words, what is so great in Hell that you would be willing to go there???

I understand fully that there may be some things here in life that you feel to hold on to, but could you agree with me – that these are things that you cannot take to Eternity with you??

I want to provoke you with some questions…. Read more →

The God of the Old Testament IS The God of the New!!!

31 Aug 2012 / 0 Comments / in Drake Notes/by Matthew Drake

Today’s message is not intended to change anyone’s mind nor convince them that I am right and they are wrong. It is not written to prove a point, clear the air, settle a grudge, win a race or create embarrassment, shame or disgrace.  Today’s message is simply to reveal the Word of God in a way that some may have never seen and to strengthen for those who have. You Gotta Have the Want To

11 Jul 2012 / 0 Comments / in Drake Notes/by Matthew Drake

An incredible thing happened to me one evening back in September of 2007. A thought came to me for a message and as I began writing the notes out to the sermon, something really stuck out to me.

As I gathered illustrations and supporting Scriptures, it dawned on me that this was not an original thought of mine, so I began to attempt to “dig out” where I had heard this message prior. Read more →

What is Praise & Worship?!?!

24 May 2012 / 0 Comments / in Drake Notes/by Matthew Drake

Praise and Worship is all about magnifying and lifting up the Lord.

For fear of stating the obvious, I am hesitant to say this, but one thing that stands out to me is the need for balance in the Church.

I have met so many people in my walk with God – genuine, sincere people – that struggle with balancing that which is Spiritual and that which is Carnal. I am not referring to necessarily Heaven or hell issues – just life. Read more →

To Baptizo or NOT To Baptizo – That is the Question!!!!

27 Apr 2012 / 2 Comments / in Drake Notes/by Matthew Drake

Foreword – Baptizo, Greek for Baptize is literally translated as the word, “Immerse”….

Introduction:

The subject of water baptism has long been called a great issue and no doubt has been made such by many church leaders of the past and present. In our study of it, let us first consider its importance, or the necessity of being baptized.

The Importance of Water Baptism:

Christian water baptism is an ordinance instituted by Jesus Christ. If it is not important in the plan of God, why did Jesus command it in Matthew 28:19? And why did Peter follow up by saying, “Be baptized every one of you,” and by commanding the Gentiles to be baptized (Acts 2:38; 10:48)? We must remember two points about the importance of water baptism. First, whatever Christ definitely established and ordained cannot be unimportant, whether we understand its significance or not. Second, Christ and the apostles showed the importance of this ordinance by observing it. Jesus walked many miles to be baptized, though He was without sin, saying, “For thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness” (See Matthew 3:13-16.) Read more →

Slow Down a Little!! You’re Going Too Fast!!!

26 Apr 2012 / 0 Comments / in Drake Notes/by Matthew Drake

There are so many things that plague the Child of God. Cares and affairs of this world, stresses of raising a family in the auspice of God, paying bills, reaching the lost – all factors in and of themselves that do not equate to anything we cannot handle. But when combined and coupled with so many other concerns it can sometimes become too much to bear for some individuals.

I believe in simpleness. And because of that – I believe the Scripture has simple Truths that we must adhere to in order to make Heaven our home…

Belief in One True God

Repentance

Baptism in Jesus’ Name

Receiving the Holy Ghost

Living a Holy lifestyle

Prayer, fasting, Bible Reading, Church attendance. Read more →

Let Me Hear Your War Cry!!!

19 Apr 2012 / 0 Comments / in Drake Notes/by Matthew Drake

In September of last year I preached a Message entitled, “Let Me Hear Your War Cry“. Inspired by the Battle Cry of the U.S. Military and the fear it instills in the hearts of the enemy.

I said, “TODAY is the day we bring the fight to him!!!!”

“It’s time we stopped sitting down, laying down and shutting up when the enemy of our soul is reeking havoc in our lives!!!

It’s time we pointed our index fingers in his face and command him by the authority given to us in Jesus Name to leave us alone!!! Satan get behind me!!! You have no place in my life. You have no place in the lives of my family, friends and coworkers.

Its time he stopped messing in our finances, in our marriages and our health!!! It’s time we take authority over him….

It’s time the devil heard our War Cry!!!” Read more →

An Army of One

18 Apr 2012 / 1 Comment / in Drake Notes/by Matthew Drake

From 2001 to 2006, the U.S. Army used the slogan of “An Army of One” – indicative of unity.

All through the Bible we read of an Army of the Lord. In Joel we discover that God considers His Army to be those not who simply “know” His Word, nor those that “read” or even “quote” His Word – but those that EXECUTE His Word. (((Joel 2:11 – And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?))) Easter… A Time For Rebirth!

04 Apr 2012 / 0 Comments / in Drake Notes/by Matthew Drake

America and very specifically Eastern North Carolina is a land of blessings. She is a land of plenteous. She is a land where God can easily be found – to a degree!

I don’t want to be too critical here – but with transparency, it is obvious that if there is a TRUTH (3 John 3) than there also MUST be a LIE. (2 Thes. 2:9-12) Read more →
